What are the benefits?

  • Buoyancy reduces gravity creating effortless muscle performance and ease of movement.
  • Reduced and measurable weight bearing through joints, spine and extremities.
  • Movements can be buoyancy assisted, resisted or supported by floatation equipment.
  • Strength improved by resistance.
  • Circulation is improved by hydrostatic pressure and water warmth.
  • Pain reduction occurs through relaxation of muscle tone/spasm, reduced weight bearing, and ease of movements.
  • Range of motion increases with relaxation, decreased pain, and hydrodynamics.
  • Exercises in water improves fitness by increasing respiratory rate, decreasing heart rate, improving mobility and strengthening against resistance with less stress on joints.
  • Balance, coordination. and flexibility can be obtained through isolation of the movement, and progressions performed in the resistance or slowing down action of water.
